National Risk Assessment on Virtual Assets
The Anti-Money Laundering Service participated in an event dedicated to securing the financial system in the Republic of Moldova. During the event, the National Risk Assessment on Virtual Assets, carried out with the support of the Office for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), was presented.
The event was attended by employees of the Anti-Money Laundering Service, the National Bank of Moldova and other financial institutions. The national assessment analyzes new risks arising in connection with virtual assets and their providers, as well as proposed measures to prevent and mitigate these risks.
"This assessment is an essential tool for regulating virtual assets in Moldova, being an important step in improving the security of the country's financial system," emphasized Andrian Munteanu, Deputy Director of the Service.
In this context, the OSCE provided support in organizing a two-day workshop on virtual assets, aiming to strengthen the knowledge of financial institutions and national authorities on the regulation and monitoring of virtual assets, in order to combat the risks of money laundering and other illicit financial activities.
