Study visit to Lithuania of the delegation of the Anti-Money Laundering Service

Fskwezxn2dyrdjnw9lf2

A delegation of the Service for Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering conducted a study visit to Lithuania, carried out with the support of international partners, within the project Moldova is Europe – support for EU integration. The goal is to strengthen institutional capacities in combating financial crime.

The visit agenda included meetings with specialists from key Lithuanian institutions such as the Financial Crimes Investigation Service, the Special Investigation Service and the Center of Excellence in Combating Money Laundering. Participants had the opportunity to discuss best practices, specific regulations and institutional collaboration mechanisms, using new technologies emerging in the field.

The Moldovan delegation participated in working sessions with representatives of the Financial Crimes Investigation Service, exploring the legal framework, the national system of supervision of virtual asset service providers (VASP) and measures adopted to manage the risks associated with cryptocurrencies. Particular interest was given to the training programs organized by the "Valley of Competence" - a successful model in terms of integrating training processes, data analysis and financial investigations into a unified framework for law enforcement authorities.

In the same context, aspects of the work of the Integrity Academy – created and founded by the Special Investigation Service, the authority responsible for preventing and combating corruption in Lithuania – were addressed. The Academy contributes to the ethical education of civil servants and the development of professional skills through training programs focused on integrity and institutional transparency.

The Center of Excellence in Combating Money Laundering discussed promoting cooperation between public institutions and the private sector in efforts to prevent financial crime. At the same time, the emphasis was placed on the continuous training of specialists in the financial sector, through interdisciplinary courses and joint training programs, developed in partnership with academia and national institutions.
